Necton: producing fine salt.

Sustainably harvested using traditional methods, traditional sea salt and fleur du sel come from Necton SA — a company run by marine biologists working in the coastal wetlands of Portugal’s Algarve region.

Necton’s flor de sal is the recipient of the Slow Food Award and is certified by the French environmental organization Nature et Progres to be free of the industrial contaminants sometimes found in mechanically harvested sea salt.."

We also produce algae for different applications - aquaculture, medicine, cosmetics and others.

Salinen von Necton

Our facilities include 3 salt marshes (salinas) with 19,5 ha total area.
Our salinas are being completely rebuilt in the traditional way used in the region for sea salt production.

The company has now 7 ha fully operational salinas able to produce the finest natural sea salt on the market.

A total of 1.600 m2 of buildings is available, including one 800 m2 storehouse and a lab facility for the control of the critical points during production.
